The first fantasy series that Eddings wrote. About the adventures of a young boy, Garion, as he grows to realise his amazing destiny. With his Aunt Pol and Grandfather, he must travel through the Kingdoms of the Alorns and Angaraks, making new friends and overcome deadly enemies.
Comments: The original series. Very good. Got me hooked.

Sequel series to the Belgariad. Ten years on from the Belgariad, King Belgarion's son is abducted by dark forces. Garion and his companions must recover the child before disaster occurs.
Comments: Similar to first series. Good. Big chase story. The better not be a sequel to this sequel.

Fantasy series set in a new world. The exiled church knight, Sparhawk, returns to his homeland Elenia to find his young Queen Ehlana dying, and sets out to save her life, and overcome the evil plots of the corrupt powerful church Primate Annias.
Comments: More original and better, similar to Belgariad and Mallorean. A more comfortable and experienced style.

Sequel series to the Elenium. Prince Sparhawk answers a plea from the Tamuli Empire to help them oppose dark magic.
Comments: Standard good series. Large cast of characters. Never seen a more obvious traitor. Like the Mallorean, it gets over complex towards the standard ending.

Prequel series to the Belgariad. Written with equal credit of authorship going to his wife Leigh. This series tells the story of the events before the Belgariad, from the point of view of Belgarath and then Polgara.
Comments: This is going to be a very good series. Technically better than his earlier works with the emphasis on what Eddings does best without the problem of convoluted plots. It is a shame that most of the plot from the Prequel series has been previously given away in Bel/Mal series.
My review of Polgara the Sorceress.

Eddings first book, published in 1973. Contemporary adventure story. It is about a group of middle aged American men who set of on a hunting trip together and what happens to them.
Comments: I did not like this as much as his fantasy works. I found it more gritty and realistic, but worth a read. It is quite funny in some parts but most of the novel lacks the banter between characters that the fantasy novels have.

Raphael is a perfectly angelic young man until he goes to college and meets Damon. Seemingly with ulterior motives (which, of course turn out to be real), Damon gets Raphael involved with booze, women, etc. The turning point comes when Raphael, already beginning his fall from grace, loses his leg in a car accident and then "hides out" in a poor neighborhood in Spokane. There he watches the lives of "The Losers" unfold from his apartment. Published in 1992.
Comments: Essentially what I took from The Losers was a fairly pessimistic look at social work (which I had already). I must say, however, that Raphael's struggle to remain independent and sane through the ordeal was somewhat comforting... (Jeff Thomae 1996)
